One of the most recognized gates in Bali, the Bali Handara Gate is an enormous traditional Balinese split gate (Candi Bentar). Surrounded by lush green mountains and beautiful lakes, this gate serves as the grand entrance to the Handara Golf & Resort in the Bedugul highlands.

The Perfect Photo Op

While the gate is technically an entrance to a resort and golf course, it has become incredibly famous worldwide thanks to social media. The dark, ancient-looking stonework against the vibrant green backdrop of the caldera makes for a dramatic and stunning photograph.

It has become so popular that there is now a ticketing system just to take photos in front of it. Despite the crowds, it remains a must-visit spot for those traveling to the northern part of Bali or visiting nearby attractions like Ulun Danu Beratan.

When to Visit

Because of its extreme popularity, the line to take a photo can get very long. It is highly recommended to arrive very early, around 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM. Not only will you beat the crowds, but the early morning mist often creates an incredibly moody and magical atmosphere.
