The Stairway to Heaven
Until relatively recently, Diamond Beach could only be admired from the cliffs above. However, locals carved a dramatic, winding staircase directly into the sheer limestone face, finally allowing access to the pristine white sand below.
The descent is steep and can be challenging, especially the final section where the stairs fade away into a steep rope descent. But the effort is entirely worth it. As you make your way down, you are treated to breathtaking panoramic views that are incredibly photogenic.
What Makes It So Special?
The Diamond Rocks
The beach gets its name from the huge, jagged, diamond-shaped rock formations that rise dramatically out of the shallow water just off the shore.
Pristine White Sand
The sand here is incredibly fine and bright white, providing a striking contrast to the deep blue Indian Ocean. However, swimming can be dangerous due to strong undercurrents.
