During low tide, the water trapped inside the billabong becomes perfectly still and incredibly clear. The vibrant emerald and turquoise colors of the water contrast sharply against the dark, textured volcanic rock beneath the surface. It’s an ethereal sight that truly lives up to its name.

However, visitors must exercise extreme caution. During high tide or when the swell is large, massive waves crash directly into the pool, violently sweeping out everything in their path. It is very important to listen to local guides and never step too close to the edge when the tide is coming in.
